My brother in law ordered a 13 Pro Max but is asking me his opinion on his and I didn't know how to answer so I figured we'd trust in the collective wisdom of Macrumors.

The pics of the phone's box is below.

We avoided opening it just in case it's best to return it, my brother in law and I are paranoid it's cracked or damaged inside the box and that if we open it the carrier will blame us.

I think its probably fine but you can also record a video of you opening just in case.
this.
but honestly thats a minor dent, and the iphone is surrounded by padding and cant really move in the box. its fine. Also you can see the dents never even made it past the outer shell, the inner case is unaffected.

Here's the protection buffer the box provides. Your dent is also on the bottom corner of the box, where there's nothing.

Thank you all for the replies, my brother in law is loving the device.

As everyone said it's all safe.

IMO…It’s just a box that is damaged. Likely due to the fact that someone may have dropped it accidentally at the warehouse. IF there isn’t any physical Damage or scratches on the device itself I wouldn’t worry about it.
