Right now my black iPhone 3GS 32 GB is being repaired by Apple for a stuck pixel. ;)

When I get it back I'll likely get one that is just like new.
Should I sell it on eBay and spend the extra 200 dollars to buy the 4th generation iPhone?

Yes, I think you should.
This is exactly what i did. My reason is because right now is the best time to get the most value out of your 3GS. If you try to sell it next year when the iphone 5 comes out the value of your 3gs will diminish.

Yes, but he will be faced with the same dilemma next year. OP, if your phone works and you don't have the need to have the latest version of anything, you'd be better served in the long run to try and get 2 years out of your phones.

Yeah it might be a good idea just to wait for next year's phone.
By then I'll have the discounted price.

I sold my 3GS on craigslist for $300 bucks and it wasn't unlocked or jailbroken. Paid for a brand new phone, can't go wrong with that. Go for it!

Once the White one is available, I am unlocking/jailbreaking mine and putting it on eBay. You should do the same and you can pay for a new 32GB iPhone 4. (@ upgrade price)

I sold my 3G so that I could buy the iPhone 4 on release day. I love the phone, it's brilliant and I can't stop using it even though I've had it for almost a month now. I can't say what the difference will be like between the 3GS and the 4, but to me it's (almost) the complete product.

Go ahead, take the leap! :apple:
