If so, I wonder what would the justification be to keep or sell. I could see myself keeping it as its performance is still more than acceptable in 2024. My 12.9" also has LTE. This would make the decision to get the 2024 11" much easier.

I am planning on getting the M4 13in (still don't know if I go with 256 or 1TB for the RAM). I kept my 2018 12.9 (512GB wifi) when I got the M1 12.9 because it was lighter and have a matte screen protector (wanted the miniled with no degradation). I will be keeping the M1 for the better speakers and the nano SIM. But I am thinking of selling the 2018. I generally only sell old devices when I can make a decent amount. For me a decent amount for the 2018 with smart keyboard would be 400-500. Much less than 400 I might end up keeping it (400 is what I sold my 2015 with smart keyboard 3 years ago). I don't hand down devices (my family is not interested in buying anyway and I don't give them away).

Sell. My vote is cash in while it still has some value and move it on out. You already bought the new, so I don’t see why you would use the old instead of the new.

I slightly regret selling my 2018 because my kid could use a dedicated tablet when we are out and about. iOS is just terrible at being handed around as a family device as well as being a personal tablet. But most of the time it’s the right idea to sell it.

Sell. Its doubtful iOS18 will even support the 2018 Pro so it wouldn't even make a good 'hand me down' for long.

I actually used mine as a trade in, first time I've done that. I looked up prices on eBay, and looked like around $350-370 and the trade in was $315, after shipping and eBay's rip off fees it would be around the same amount.

I never sell old apple equipment except phones as the amount you get is derisory and having a back up in the case of a problem, is invaluable.
“Derisory” - learned a new word to day. Thanks!
Sounds like it could be related to “derisive”.

I think the real "derisory" amount is what one gets from trade-ins, that's why I NEVER do that. Proper selling instead can get you some decent amount with Apple, but it's all a matter of timing, past a certain time you might get peanuts even by selling. If that's worth it, it depends on the person, I'd rather keep an old iPad pro (despite having several new ones) than sell it fot $50 or less (even if I use it once or twice a year)

i'm debating this too. frankly leaning towards keeping it, I still love it (although I'm sure I'll only use the new one) but given the crappy resale value I'm thinking of just keeping it

iPads have terrible resale value from Apple with the Apple Watch being the worst. As a frequent upgrader its part of the reason I don’t buy iPads anymore, you’ll spend $1K new then Apple will offer you $180 a year later like GTFO.

I tried trading mine in for $315 but the “inspection” said the screen had LCD burn in and streaks. It doesn’t and I confirmed such when it was returned. Decided to just keep it.

Keep it. And leave it in the car (off). For those times you forgot the new one, everything syncs anyway.

I am finally trading in/selling 2018 11" iPad Pro. Apple Intelligence, new Pencil, and OLED seem worth the upcoming Apple's Back to School promo (about $799 for the base 11" model).

If there is a hand me down for a device I'll keep it, but when it's time to upgrade it is for a reason and I can't see going back to an old version. I always sell or trade mine in.

I was surprised that my 2018 iPad Pro is worth over 300 quid, in Apple trade in.

Thing is, if I get the money for the iPad, I’m left with a Smart Folio, and Magic Keyboard. Both boxed, as new. I don’t have any family members to pass it on to, so I can just keep it, or let it go.

If anyone is interested in the bundle, let me know (UK.)
