As a word of advice, don't believe everything you read online.

That's not to say that Apple computers don't have their problems, nor to deny that many users experience defects. But you probably get 10 times as many people complaining as those who post their satisfaction about their new purchase.

All computer models have issues and defects of some kind. Buy what will make you happy. If it's a notebook (whether Apple or some other brand) then consider some kind of extended warranty.

Since i got mine:

Random wifi connection problems
cracks under the keyboard
battery cable melted

having said that, best computer you will ever buy.

Yeah I would say wait to see if they refresh the specs on the MacBook here. As for the defects any popular product will see a lot of posts complaining about things going wrong with it. Not as many people will post about their positive experiences as the ones who complain. I've got a Revision A MacBook that I've only had to have the battery replaced and it was covered by Apple so just a little of my time to go to the local Apple Store to get it looked at.

I wouldn't let that stop me from purchasing a macbook. Most of those problems would be covered under warranty anyways. I would, however, wait a couple of weeks and see if it they're going to get updated soon since there are rumors floating around of an update

I'm still waiting for this update to happen. That's the only reason why I haven't purchased a Macbook yet.

I am seriously considering buying a 20 inch iMac for the mean time so I can get the free iPod touch.

I will wait this out just a tad bit longer.

I've had only 1 of these four experiences: the last one.... :)

Defects happen but are not common. Still, you should get applecare.
