Hello everyone.

I am a long time blackberry user (That being said have used the bb own OS years back and my current K1 runs on android. (For what it is word got a ipad for about 6 years and about 2,5 years ago I replaced my old white MB for a 13 inch MBP)

My problem is the phones getting bigger and bigger (screens) or getting smaller but taller (like the Sony xperia 5 II only 6,1 inch screen but is almost as tall as say the Oneplus Nord with a 6,5 inch screen) and I have got small hands.

In the current lineup of Androids the are only a couple of options for me the likes of Samsung A41 or the google Pixels 4A or 5 if I want a small phone. But the battery of the 4A is according to most reviews 'average'.

And now that brings me to Apple.

The 2020m SE I am afraid has got the same going on as the 4a. battery life is 'average' Furthermore sometimes I get a warning that I got to many apps open on the K1 and that it will slow down if dont close apps so I wonder if 3 GB Ram on a SE2020 isnt going to be the same issue. (for the futureproofness as Apple updates things for about 5 years if I am not mistaking?)

That being said Apple has got 2 options for me at the moment.

The 1 yo Iphone 11 with only a 6,1 inch screen and just slightly bigger then my k1. And the yet to be released Iphone 12 mini which is quite smaller, a litte powerhouse something like the previous Sony Xperia compacts were. I wonder haw rthe battery life is going to be on the mini. I think is going to be on par with the 12. Smaller battery, but also smaller screen to power.

I om not a real power user. Dont ever game on my phone. Use it for browsing, whatsapp, making calls and a couple of apps. Only time I use it heavy is when I am traveling and most important to me is a good battery.

Opinions??

Being a devout Apple person, I have had the 11 regular which I just sold and it still had 99% battery after 14 months - very good design and it has been foolproof.

My current 12 Pro which replaced it is also very good and my battery life (unlike other alarmists), is better than before and sips very conservatively.
It takes about a week for the phone to stabilize, synchronize, and optimize so now my phone barely eats thru 10% a day.

It depends on your carrier & 5G availability for you to decide.

If you are a power user with lots to download and stream live FB/YT, etc then you want the 5G service with a good carrier like TMO - get a 12.

If you are like a conservative, casual user and can live with 4G service, an 11 iPhone will outperform your expectations.

If you want a great compact phone that will last years your options right now are slim. Get the Mini. It's going to be a sweet little phone with a battery that will support your needs.

Mini sounds like a great option. Just get a battery case when you travel or a small battery powerbank. But yes the mini is going to be a power house with small form factor.

Being a former keyone user myself until January of this year, I’ll add my input here.
iOS and its RAM management is hugely better than Android and your 3gb on an iPhone 11 will go a lot further than the 3gb in your keyone. The oldest phones that support iOS 14 have 2gb and cope quite well. The 11 is a great sized phone with an amazing battery, the 12 mini is currently an unknown in the battery department. All I will say is pay no attention to the battery life tests on YouTube or similar as they are so far off base it’s laughable.
If you want small, the mini will be great but battery I’d imagine will be the same or worse than the 2020 SE. If you are more bothered about battery life than size, grab the 11. Yes there are improvements in the 12 mini vs the 11, but in day to day usage as you describe you won’t really notice it.

Yes, the SE 2020's battery life is average at best (I don't USUALLY finish the battery on a regular day, but on my previous iPhones, I NEVER finished a day without battery), but for me this is not a problem since I have wireless chargers both on the car and on the office, and in the real world my SE 2020 gets 20-30 minutes charges 2-5 times a day. However, if you travel frequently I'd invest in a battery case so battery life wouldn't be an issue.

iOS is way better on managing RAM than Android, you won't have any problem on having "too many" apps open, no matter what model of iPhone you choose.

Another thing to consider is that during the pandemic, due to face masks, Face ID is useless, I got tired of typing my passphrase dozens of times a day, and I'm really happy with the SE's Touch ID.
