Ok so I have an offer to trade my MacPro with two 20" cinema displays for a MBP, I was wondering if this would be a fair trade, the specs are below:

MacPro (early 2008)
single 2.8ghz QuadCore Xeon
6gb Ram
320gb HDD

MBP
2.8ghz Core2Duo
4gb ram
500gb HDD

I would take the mbp and add a SSD and max out ram. I do print and web design and want something portable

Thanks

lol no. unless you really need the portability. that core2duo in comparison to the xeon is awful. you're probably better off trying to sell the mac pro for cash and then just buying a used mbp thats way better than that one.

Not a decision I'd recommend but if its portability you want, why not sell your Mac Pro and buy a new MBP? The Core2Duo on that Macbook Pro 17" is ancient and performance will start to become very limited.

that would be a horrible trade. like others said, sell the mac pro and buy a new macbook pro

Must be a joke thread. Not only is the Pro alone not worth the trade, but to suggest adding 2 cinema displays is hilarious. Reminds me of those kids at school who weren't too bright and you could convince them their shiny charizard was worth less than your white energy card.
