ATI x1600 128 MB

is it worth the trade for a new MB 2.4ghz or is my MBP still better?

Thanks,

hi,

it's not a new MBP, he's getting the new Macbook white 2.4ghz:

Specs:

2.4ghz c2duo Penryn
160gb HD
x1300 on board graphic chip 144mb shared memory
2gb ram

i don't think it's worth the trade. your machine isn't much slower than your friend's, and yours included a dedicated graphics card and has a bigger (and higher res.) display. too many sacrifices for a very small increase in clock speed.

If you are really looking to make like A dish rag and squeeze every last cent out of you current machine then I'd strongly suggest that you through another couple of gigabytes of physical memory in and call this thread dead.

I already have 4gb ram in my machine.

So it's not worth the trade? I thought the the new Macbokk with the Penryn is better?

in most cases, the MacBook Pro is going to be more valuble than the Macbook. But I guess it depends on your situation. I mean it'd be nice to have a BRAND new machine, but personally I wouldn't trade my 1st gen Core Duo Macbook Pro for a top of the line macbook.

The bigger screen and dedicated video card are essential to me. I like the look much better as well. But to each his own I suppose.

just my 2cents

If...your friend's going to buy one, and then trade it to you then it seems like a better solution is for him to buy it from you directly and you upgrade to a SR or Penryn MBP if you want to move up in clock speed. Just a thought. But it all depends on your needs. I wouldn't trade away a dedicated video card, but I am aware that many people have no significant need for it.

Since we are all talking about trading...I am trading my CD Blackbook with 2gb of ram, 80 gig hd plus 600 USD for a new 2.2 ghz memrom SR MBP --- with 128 mb video ram and 2 gigs of ram.

I'm confused about all this trading; if anyone offers me any computer, I'm going to say no.

Is this MB even new?
