Running very smoothly on 12.4. But attracted to iOS 13new features. Definitely don’t want battery life, responsiveness badly affected. Should I update or not?

Unless you want 12.4 for a stable jailbreak, or prefer peek and pop, I don’t see why not

13.2.2 is pretty stable imo and I don’t have any bugs on my iPhone 7 or iPads (mini 5, Pro 10.5, Pro 12.9 3rd gen)

(iOS 12 is fine too atm. Nothing significant or major in iOS 13 over 12 for the moment except dark mode, which several jb tweaks do better and more justice to oled devices)

I would definitely recommend updating to iOS 13.2.2 on your Max. Runs butter smooth on mine and battery life has improved by keeping it in Dark Mode 100% of the time.

I had iOS 12 on my X, now have iOS 13 on the 11 pro.
My suggestion to you would be to stay on 12.4 and jailbreak.

For a lot of users, 13 is definitely not stable. Somewhere between “bad” and “trainwreck” would be more descriptive. You don’t know how it’s going to play out for you, but you do know that if it works badly you can never go back. I would stay on 12 for now.

I’ve been running 13.2.2 on my iPad and I its been a mixed bag. I do like the new features but, there are bugs that have been persistent since the very first version of iOS13 and don’t seem to be getting fixed. I haven’t had some of the more serious bugs described on this forum but, I do have two different issues that have have been there since the beginning. I haven’t updated my iPhone X because I refuse to lose full functionality of 3D Touch and it’s running 12.4.1 perfectly. I’ve been on the wall about replacing my AirPod 1st gens with Pro’s because they need 13.2.2 to function. I’m not going to update until it’s absolutely necessary...

My max is fine 13.2. No worries!
My 3rd gen iPad Pro on the other hand is awful atm (iPadOS) and really regret the update.

I have the XR, which has the same chip as the XS and it’s buttery smooth and stable now. It was a bit wonky upon its initial release, but iOS 13 is good now.

Read this thread on bugs in 13.2.2 (the only version you can install now) and see if updating is a safe bet. You may or may not have problems like those reported in this thread, but you are never going back to 12 once you update to 13.

Yes, you’ll actually have far better battery life due to dark mode.

I also haven’t noticed any issues personally.

I would hold off for another update or two.

My iPhone 8+ was working flawlessly under 12.4. But since iOS 13 and iOS 13.2, I am still having issues. My Exchange mail from work isn't working as well as it should. Sometimes I get notifications and sometimes I don't. My social media notifications are also not showing up like they did before on 12.4.

But then again, there are many folks who are having no problems at all. And Dark Mode is kinda nice. It's up to you. If I had it to do over again, I'd make sure my phone wouldn't update to any of the IOS 13 variations as of yet.

The 3D touch will feel very degraded if you upgrade. If you do not use it that much then definitely upgrade.

I miss it a lot.

iOS 13.2.2 is fairly stable for me. I had it on an iPhone SE and now have it on an 11. Earlier versions were a bit hit and miss with its ‘snappy-ness’ but seems fine now.

I’m hoping iOS 14 next year is what iOS 12 was in terms of an attempt to ‘fix’ the previous major version. But to repeat myself 13.2.2 is largely fine.

Happily still on 12.4 with a jailbreak on my Xs. I get to keep full 3d touch capability along with added jailbreak capabilities including increased speed, no swipe to unlock, ipad style dock, no youtube ads and playing in background, themes, and the list goes on and on.

Very stable for me on 13.2.2 smooth so far dark mode is nice. Nothing to worry for me
