I have a spare 3gs laying around without a sim card. Its my "backup" phone, and its jailbroken and on 4.3.3. I was wondering if i should update it to 5.1.1 before apple stopped signing it or should i leave it at 4.3.3?

People still on 3gs on 5.1.1, how is your phone handling it?

It's a little bit slower for my taste. Switching between apps and typing a message is a lot slower. If it is not going to be your main phone, keep it @4.3.3.

it might possibly be a main phone for someone in the near future which is why i'm trying to figure out if i should update or not. If its a huge diff for the worst then i'll just keep it at 4.3.3.

Yeah, keep it as it is then. I would have never updated to iOS 5 had i known My phone was going to be slower.

I think that it works perfectly fine. Mine runs pretty fast still. And I can't say I have any problems.

iOS 5.1.1 seems to perform the same on my 3GS as iOS 4.3.3 did.

iOS 4.1 and 4.2.1 were quicker, but less compatible with apps. iOS 5.1.1 brings all kinds of new features and bug fixes.
