This is my iMac model.

2.93ghz i7 2010 iMac
4gb ram (EDIT - right now it is 2x2gb sticks in the bank0/bank1 and I have two additional slots left)
iMac 11,3 - Model

Should I upgrade and buy these two 2 x 4gb ram sticks for my iMac?
Are these the correct memory sticks for my iMac as well? Is the price pretty good as well?

I will be doing some film editing in the near future and I'd think the ram would help?

http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX42988 1x8gb stick

What memory stick is better? Same price so should I get the 1x8gb stick so I have one slot remaining on my iMac to upgrade?

I've never upgraded ram before. Will I see an increase in performance dramatically?

Thanks.

Overall, you will certainly see an improvement with more RAM in your system. I did when going from 4 to 8GB, and that was after an SSD install on a 2010 21.5" w/3.2GHz i3.

Now, you could save yourself some money and just throw another 4 gigs in there (2X2GB sticks). I did exactly that: I found a guy on Craigslist in my area who regularly sold Apple RAM, and got it for $20. Works like a charm and way cheaper than buying new.

I'll do the upgrade to 12 or 16GB when I start getting page-outs; until then, it won't do any good (kind of like getting higher octane fuel for your car when the engine doesn't need it).
