I've been using my iPhone X since it was released in 2017. It's been a great phone, but I am more than ready to go back to the plus/max size phone. I really miss the screen width of my old 6s plus. I have a very strong itch to get the 11 pro max. But now since it's almost February, I am wondering if I should just wait until the 12 comes out. If I get the 11 Pro Max now, I will have to pass on the 12 later this year when it comes out, which I may regret. I can't justify buying 2 new phones in one year. I use my phone for lots of pictures too. I've hated the small screen of the X since day one. Also is FaceID faster or any better on the 11 pro max than it is on the X? FaceID frustrates me to no end on my X. What do you think?

Wait or not wait? You're effectively 1/3 through the model year. From my perspective, the year is still young. Since you seem bothered by the X, would waiting for the new features of the 12 be worth spending 8 more months with the X? Instant gratification vs. delayed gratification. Only you know that answer.

By all reports Face ID is faster on the new models. Personally, Face ID on my X is not at all frustrating, but we're all different.

I'm interested that you're suffering with Face I'd because although I've only had my Xs for two weeks I'm finding it to be very impressive, no trouble at all. Whatever, Apple can hardly go back to fingerprint ID now they've said it's less secure, so the 12 (or 11S) is bound to be a face reader. Sure Apple could improve Face ID hardware and software, but enough to make you a convert?

Perhaps you should skip the 11 Pro Max and wait to try the next generation.

Between baking a new ios and the 4-5 months to get the kinks out along with new hardware, Feb is near perfect time, bought my X and 6S+ in March. There's nine months before the new models.

Better Face ID, battery, extra 1GB ram even helps. Two ounces more in your hand. The X was being offered a nice sum on trade-in in the fall, nit sure what it is now. $349 or more?

That's why I like the iPhone upgrade program. There's no worry about missing out. If you want to upgrade you could when it comes out (you'd have to pay a little more because you wouldn't have made 12 payments yet) or you just keep paying for 2 years and own the phone.

I thought the X to XS difference was minimal. XS to 11 Pro has been wonderful. The battery is drastically better and I'm loving photos with night mode and the third lens.

I vote yes unless 5G matters to you. It didn't to me because it's still rolling out and 4G is good enough for me.

I'll upgrade after I've seen how Apple will implement 5G and the price points it'll hit. Also the battery life on this Pro Max is hands down the best battery life I've ever had on any iOS device, ever. It's very convenient.

If you want to be an early adopter, wait. If you need it now I will tell you that the Pro Max is worth the cost.

I went from x to 11, don’t really miss the oled nor the telephoto, night mode and wide angle, with better battery life for only 700 is pretty sweet

OP didnt even mention the 11 lol.

If you can wait full 8 months to a 12 do it, or get the Max pro and be like the rest of us and be 4 months in.
Not that hard.

Also the pro is the best version of the X/XS like the 8 was of the 6/6s/7.

Lol a mild suggestion, I never thought of going from oled to lcd but here I’m

I wouldn’t upgrade from an x to 11 pro max. It’s not going to change your experience day to day imho. It’s almost the same but bigger. The camera is still pretty good on the x and I’ve been impressed with the pics my sister sends me.

Just fast charger in the car and at home if battery is an issue. The 2021 upgrade should be significant so I for one I’m waiting. I have an xs max and I’ve upgraded every year until the 11 pro came out.

This! The upgrade program is a no brainier.

I agree with this. The only real transition someone will appreciate from the iPhone X to the 11 Pro is the display size and battery life. All the other technology won’t be utilized uniformly by everyone to fully appreciate everything it has to offer.

Your 6s Plus to X transition was more significant in my opinion. So a X to 12 would also be just as much. I suggest a battery swap / fast charger investment to tide you over til September.

The 11 camera for shooting outdoors. Still prefer Samsung S10+ or Note 10 though.

Still have X and it's 3GB RAM also is holding it back, a 12 with 6GB? Perfect.
