Hey guys, I'm new to the iphone hack scene, but I have been reading up.
I have an iphone 3G that I would very much like to jailbreak. I have no desire whatsoever to "unlock" it, or to use it with other carriers.
As such, I'm wondering if I should update my firmware before I jailbreak or not. I have heard people saying things like "THIS SUCKS NOTHING WORKZ ON 2.2" and things of that nature -- I just don't want to update if it's not going to work well for me..
So I guess I'm just looking for some opinions: should I upgrade to 2.2.1 before I jailbreak, or stay at 2.2? If I do update to 2.2.1 and experience problems, can I roll-back to 2.2? I am very interested in running an application named Qik, as well as xgps, among others. Will these run ok on 2.2.1?
