So I know a lot of people may be asking this but I'm coming from a fairly old android and not an iPhone past the new design change which has basically stuck since the X.
I'm looking forward to the long support I can get.
I have a OnePlus 6 now and I'm looking to get any phone now because it freezes daily but it's so close to September like 2/3 months away so idk if I should upgrade from my 3 year old android yet. Is it worth getting the 12 now over the 13 which I'm guessing won't have a completely new design overhaul but may have one or two useful changes.

Why would anyone upgrade now when we are 2 month away from the new models. 🤦‍♂️

Because of the deals going on right now with certain carriers. I ordered a 12 mini on Monday that will be effectively free with my trade in, and there's no guarantee I'll get the same value for my trade in (iphone X) in 2 months when the 13's are released.

Yeah exactly why I'm on the fence 😭

If it’s free then it’s a no brainer, smart purchase 👌

If you’re only saving a $100-$200 dollars, definitely wait.

If you can wait then you should wait at this point this late into the cycle. If you absolutely need a new phone right now then get the 12.

I have the XR and I've been thinking about upgrading my phone this year. I was leaning towards waiting to see if the iPhone 13 will mark down the 12 but I haven't seen any deals through Verizon on it now. I guess it might be other carriers.

I’d probably wait, especially if you’re interested in a Pro model. Those will supposedly be 120Hz, and if you’re not a huge fan of the notch, it’ll supposedly be reduced this year.

It's a tossup because iPhone 14 is rumored to finally get the underscreen touch sensor. That would be pretty gamechanging, though not the biggest of deals since Apple Watch to unlock now works with FaceID... unless like pigs Apple disables that feature citing the new underscreen touchID...

Regardless, I'll be going from the 12 Pro to 13 Pro. I need that 120hz smooth scrolling, its a noticeable difference to many who don't have poor vision.

Unlocking with the watch is a nice feature. I kinda wish they took it a step further and allowed the watch to sign in to various apps. Of course the masking thing isn't that important anymore (Unless the Mask Mandates return) but if I'm walking and want to check stocks, have that convenience is nice.

I upgraded to the 12 max yesterday because of the $700 trade in credit they gave me for my 11 max. basically made my 12 max $500. Verizon told me the 11 max credit trade in will go down to 200-300 when the 13 releases. 🤷🏽‍♂️

You quoted the wrong person, not in the U.S to be on Verizon. 🤦‍♂️😂👆

Unless Verizon has come to Australia. 🤔

You weren't the person commenting why anybody would upgrade now? Regardless of where you are there could very well be sales and trade in offers for the 12. It doesn't need to be Verizon or the US, I was giving an example 🤦🏽‍♂️😂

Wouldn’t be surprised if the 120mhz is for the max version only

I was in your same situation. Except in Feb Vz was offering a buy one get up to $1000 off the second phone. Wife and I wanted new phones. Came from a XS and XR for me. Did not have to trade phones in. It was a no brainer for us. We upgraded to 12Pro for her and 12PM for me.

If your phone is broken right now and doesn't work, then... I would get a 12; unless you don't really need a phone. I have the most expensive item Apple makes (Mac Pro) because I need the capabilities it offers. I also have a boatload of other Apple gear from various eras. I seem to upgrade my phone every other cycle, because... I just don't really care that much, it's a phone/portable computer and whatever they add is not going to be life-changing. There seems to be an entire contingent of people who obsess about their phone, their phone's case, their phones accessories, and continuously updating to the very latest model. What if there is no iPhone 13, and they just call it a 12S ;-) FWIW, we're already on iPhone 13,3 (in the case of 12 pro) internally, because 12 is the 13th revision level of the phone (if you look at any app that self-reports the hardware, or Geekbench for that matter, it comes back as 13,x).

OTOH I love all the people who continuously upgrade every toy that Apple makes, because it makes my stock go higher.

Summary: if you need a new phone because your current one is broken, then I'd buy a new phone instead of having a broken phone for (x) months, because whatever upgrades Apple makes, are really not going to be life-changing (unless your whole life revolves around iPhone updates).

Next time don't add a different person name to a quote. 🤦‍♂️😂
