I'm thinking of swapping over to the new one. Any comments on adjustments to the new form factor and resolution? How will performance be with the baseline 13in MBP?

My MBP:
2.6 c2d
4gig ram
320 7200 rpm hdd
8600m gt 256

Why would you do it right now. If your mbp is working fine then stick with it.

Unless you are doing a free swap.

just concerned about the general age of the unit and that something might give out in a matter of time. also battery life is about 45 minutes...new battery is $130..

Just get a new battery, IMO.

Your MBP is easily competitive with the 13" MBP and should be a better gaming machine, although that 9600M is a bit worrisome.

I've been using the 13" MBP since Christmas - and the 13" unibody MB before that - and I dearly miss the extra resolution of the Santa Rosa 15" that I had.

The new unibody battery life is outstanding, and the higher color gamut displays are pleasing, but, IMO, you should wait for the next refresh, when the 13" MBP should have newer i5 or even AMD chips.

$130 vs $1,200... Seems like a no brainer to me if your current MBP is meeting all of your needs except the battery.

i had the original 15" mbp 1.83 coreduo with 2gb ram i added myself and a 250gb hard drive i added. Sold it for 920$ and bought a new 13" for 1100 + ipod and printer. After selling the ipod and printer I made money while upgrading laptops :). Love how apple laptops hold their value.

The longer you stick up with the 13" the faster the new machines will be as apple updates its line periodically.

If your 13 MBP is running fine, stick with it.
