I'm planning on getting one soon, but with the release of the new MB Air, I'm just wondering if the MBP will be getting an update soon as well.

Im waiting.

I currently have a Hackintosh which is happily running Snow Leopard and I plan on buying a 13" or 15" MBP at some point in the future.

And since I am in no hurry (except me being a big kid and wanting it NOW NOW NOW - heh heh), I am going to wait until (hopefully) redesigned MBP's come out with Ivy Bridge processors.

MBP was updated a few months ago, tbh there's nothing to update it to....

If you have a machine that you can use without any problems until the new Macbook Pro fresh, wait for it. If you need it right now for some reason, then get it.

I think there will be a spec bump late 2011 and a complete redesign in 2012.

Wait? depends on how much you need it.

Why would the do that O-o. IMO, it would be easier just to just add the new specs and design in one update.
But to the OP - if you need it, buy it now. If you don't have another computer now then you should just wait. But I don't think there will be an update for another six months. But then again, these are predictions/rumours so if you dont wanna be waiting forever just get it now. :p

Because they can, it will make their product more competitive and because it said so on one of the rumor websites (forgot which one).

Still not sure of course but according to the Macrumors buying guide it makes sense.

Recommendation: Buy only if you need it - Approaching the end of a cycle
Last Release: February 24, 2011
Days Since Update: 151 (Avg = 215)

But then again, MacRumours isn't always all that accurate
