I see Craigslist blowing up with 4s for sale. The supply and demand is causing it to be both harder to sell/lower price than it normally would be.

Should I just wait until a few weeks or month after the madness is over in order to sell my 4s on craigslist? Hopefully the 4s market dries up by that point?

Anyone do this same strategy?

Thanks for your input :)

By then it will be worth hardly anything probably... I would sell on Amazon Trade In -- or a comparable Trade In service now.

That's silly. It's not going to be worth "nothing". And yes, you'll lose more with the flood right now than if you wait. This happened when I sold my 3GS. I waited until the 4S launch and things went insane and I low balled left right and centre. Waited a few weeks, tried again, and sold it quickly. I lost $20 tops compared to if I'd sold ahead of the 4S announcement.

Also, the trade in services give you a fraction of what you could sell for on Kijiji. I just sold my 4S for $600 with a Speck case. Wait out the rush at this point though.

Huh? Amazon Trade In is giving $375 for a 16GB 4s right now... Good luck getting that anywhere else.

You're crazy. Craigslist and Kijiji will easily destroy that price, even a couple of weeks from now. That's what I sold my 3GS (locked to Rogers in Canada) for, AFTER receiving my new 4S. And yesterday I sold my 32GB unlocked 4S for $600. Unlocked gets you a little bit more, but for some reason most buyers on Kijiji and Craigslist here seem not to care. I guess most people here are on one of the Big 3, so if yours is locked to one of those carriers you'll get a buyer.

If you're impatient and unwilling to deal with the local selling ********, then sure the trade ins are great, but if you're willing to wait it out a bit, you get a bite eventually.

I did mine an hour before iPhone 5 announcement and got 400, people the day before got 415. I expect a drop to 350 tomorrow for like new condition.

Yeah, sorry but I don't see this happening... Being that perfect condition iPhone 4s's are selling every minute for $300 and below on eBay right now....

There are tons of people who will NOT buy on eBay. They buy local. And if you wait you get your asking price. There are tons for sale locally right now because everyone is jumping for new phones, but that dies off, and the prices return to normal. You can believe what you want, but I've seen this repeatedly, as my wife and I always buy unlocked devices and sell them one or two iterations later.

I dunno, maybe your local market is just too flooded. NOT the case in Ottawa.

As a general rule, for anything that Apple sells refurb, you can sell for a few bucks under that price. People are silly and think that the refurb Apple product isn't as good as yours that's working and in great condition. For anything that doesn't sell refurb or isn't available at the time, $100 under the going rate is totally achievable.

Had my 16gb up for 2 days on CL and only got 1 nibble from a guy who couldn't follow directions (I said email or text and he called and left a vm. That was only for 400. eBay only offered me 300. 400 at Amazon is the best I have seen. But I am in Los Angeles, way more people selling here.

Maybe it really depends on your location. Smaller cities are probably easier, and in Canada, Kijiji is 1000x better than Craigslist. I guess I just suggest that people at least try, especially if you haven't already done the trade-in at this point. With Amazon Trade-in and others you get 30days to send it in right? List it locally at the same time and see what you can get.

Only 7 days actually. I shipped mine out last night.
