Gentlemen, I would like to know if it is possible to put a MXM GTX680m (or any MXM Kepler-based chipset graphics card) and flash it as it was a PCIe peecee card.
Here down under in Argentina new iMacs are stratospherically priced. So, I assume a 2011 i5 21.5" iMac is a pretty strong candidate for a mid-range workstation: the CPU can be upgraded to i7, a SSD could be added for a Fusion Drive, the Superdrive could be upgraded to a BD combo or writer, the RAM is upgradeable as well… until you get stuck with the wimpy old Radeon card.
I understand you can put an Alienware 680mx, and the drivers included in ML and Mavericks do the rest. Not having an EFI ROM the card, you'll loose the bootscreen (I don't care at all a Windoze installation, but if I decide to upgrade the OS tomorrow, I would prefer a bootscreet to watch at least what's happening)
Enough theory. I understand MXM is a variation of PCIe, so here I ask: is it possible to flash (assuming there is space on the EEPROM chips) the MXM card with an EFI ROM dedicated to a PCIe card?
Thanks a lot in advance.
