Given that iOS/iPadOS has a TV app and the existence of the Apple TV+ service, in addition to (years-old) rumours of an actual TV from Apple (which still hasn't happened), would it make sense to rename the existing TV device for consistency with the iPod and HomePod?

It seems like the naming trend for newer Apple products/services is "Apple (insert product)". We have Apple Watch, Apple Fitness, Apple Arcade, Apple Music, etc. Apple TV makes sense from that point of view (although I think Jobs decided on that name simply on trademark issues, somebody has trademarked iTV already). The problem is their streaming service, although I can't think of a better name for Apple TV+. Apple Flix? :D

The problem isn't "AppleTV" (a name from 2006). The problem is "AppleTV+" (a name in 2021 that refers to a streaming service that is NOT exclusive to the hardware of the same name).

While it would be nice to get uniformity in naming, in the end then if Apple doesn't care about inconsistent naming then I shouldn’t either. So if my dad says "AppleTV came with my phone so I'm going to watch Ted Lasso on the Roku" then I can figure out what he means. :D
