Wondering how much of a weight drop we could expect . I’m not sure I understand which parts are titanium and which aren’t

I really hope it’d bring the 14 pro down to 180gr but not sure if that’s possible

Not sure. I love my iPM14 but I don’t see the point in the glass back. That alone must account for a good 30g. A simple alu back would have been the same, even more now that it’s frosted!
So it would be perfect if it had alu edges and alu back imho.
you need the glass back for wireless charging, you can't use metal with wireless charging. only plastic, glass or ceramic as far as i know can be used. so even the 15's will still have a glass back. to answer the question it will probably drop the weight only a little maybe 5g or so im guessing

just imagine if the parts that are stainless steel now are titanium, im guessting the weight will decrease between 5 and 10 grams at most if that because it depends on what they add internal for all we know the weight could stay the same just with more inside.

Oh only 5g ? Damn , what makes the 14 pro and max such bricks? They have smaller battery than the competition , yet weigh 206 and 240gr respectively

I thought it was due to the stainless steel edges

Afaik the main difference between the pro and regular is stainless steel Frame . Sure , there’s one more camera , but idk how much weight it adds

iPhone 13 was 170gr , vs 13 pro’s 204gr… that’s over 30gr difference

That’s why I expected the titanium to be at least as light as aluminum ,hence giving the pro a weight of -roughly- 180gr

if you compared titanium vs aluminum apple watches which internals are the same just the material of the shell is different the titanium is still heavier by 5 grams or so and is only 6 grams lighter then the stainless steel so best guess on phone would be in-between the aluminum and stainless steel hence why i said between 5g and 10 grams is all that would be saved, it depends on what internals are added maybe 15g lighter at most

It is all speculation and on the construction of a future iPhone. I rather like seeing Apple to going to something like carbon fiber case with a carbon fiber back. I am not talking about the plastic that was used in the past but real aircraft grade carbon fiber. That is where the real weight saving would go. No more glass shattered backs and a real weight savings. Just look at a 787 in the weight savings over an aluminum skinned aircraft.

the question is would you be able to use wireless charging through carbon fiber

I don’t know about drop the weight a lot
But it sure will increase the price a lot lol

Well, maybe you expected it, but that’s not how it is ;)
Titan (as a metal) is about 60% heavier than aluminum! And so are the alloys of both.
It’s lighter than stainless steel, but not much.

oh wow , for some reason i thought it was lighter than most metals, including aluminium lol

why can't apple just give the pros aluminium, for god's sake , its so much ligher

Arthritis and carpal tunnel outvote muscles!

I have very strong forearms due to hand milking cows and goats as a young child, but the arthritis in my hands and carpal tunnel in my wrists scream ā€œget a lighter phone!!ā€
i'm picturing a guy with enormous and veiny arms crying over his little phone's weight , and it's actually quite funny

šŸ˜‚ no, not like Popeye, just wiry/toned.
found you !

So just made a titanium unibody shell like the 5C (as is already rumored) with a plastic cutout for the MagSafe ring. Done.
