So, it appears that many apps are updating today, with mostly IPAD support. While I have downloaded some apps with itunes on my MBP, and they appear in a SEGREGATED area of the applications menu, I assume THESE are seperate apps for ipad.

But, on my iphone today, I see many of my current apps, some paid many free that show new versions. They say, "IPAD Compatibility" or something like that, or UNIVERSAL FORMAT.

but, for the iphone, should I even download them? Aren't we back to the same powerpc vs. intel bloatware? Will these ipad universal apps just bloat up my iphone now? Should one NOT upgrade them on the iphone to keep an iphone specific version on there?

Be careful when upgrading, especially if you're jailbroken. Some apps, like Evernote, Dragon Dictation, and Air Hockey are now requiring firmware 3.1.3, and won't install on anything below that. I found out the hard way.
