Show bouncing icons when dock hidden

The bouncing dock icons are very useful for instant messengers like Adium.

But if you hide the dock, the bouncing icons are also hidden.

Is there a way to show the bouncing icons even if the dock is hidden?

My Dock icons do bounce, even when the Dock is hidden, though I don't use Adium.
