For the first time ever, I asked Onyx to show hidden files, I got 2 on my desk top, several in the finder and 1 in the trash. I don't know what they all are but it was an erie site. Advice please?

Well, don't go throwing them away. They are both present and hidden by default for a reason. What did you expect when you asked to see hidden files?

Yeah, don't worry about them. You can delete .DS_Store, but it will only come back if you open that folder in Finder (it keeps track of custom folder settings). Others are application-dependent, but are usually UNIX apps and not OSX apps.

Why did you label this a mystery in your title?
There is no mystery here, as other posters have indicated

Just re-hide them and be happy :)
They are hidden so they won't clutter up your Finder
And so you won't be deleting them
