So, I have these 2 laptops. One is my new macbook pro with the latest updates for snow leopard. The other one is an older white macbook (old design, guess 2007) and I believe it has snow leopard (not sure wether it has the latest updates).

The thing is, on mine, when I go to the airport icon in the menu bar, go to "connect to other network" and then to "show networks", I can select a network and then I can check the box "show password" which will show the password. The white macbook is not actually mine, and this is in a parents controlled environment (so that I can only use the laptop for the purpose of work). So I have no administrators password.

Now, on my own macbook pro with snow leopard, up to date, I can not do this trick. I can go to airport, select to connect to another network, show a list of networks, but when I select a network (which I automatically login too, so it has the password) the option "show password" is greyed out.

Why? Is this an option, or just random? How is it that my macbook is better "protected" to this trick, than one with parental controls. And how can you activate it, so that on the older white parental controlled macbook you can no longer select the "show password" box?
