I have a first generation Shuffle. It does not work with my iPhone headphones. Are they not compatible for some reason? I can only hear about half the music and none of the lyrics. When I plug in any other headphones-it's fine.

I'm sure no one else even has an old Shuffle like me.

The iPhone earphones phones have 3 channels (one for the mic/controls). If you look at the plug you can see it is divided into 3 while a standard stereo plug (like the Shuffle) is just 2 channels.

So why wouldn't it work? It's not like the Shuffle has more channels, it has less. That's weird.

Thanks for the response.

The plug contacts don't line up properly because the bottom right channel (I think) is divided for the mic and your Shuffle is picking it up instead of the right (I think) channel.

Hold the two plugs up side by side and look at the plastic divider rings and you will see the difference.

EDIT: It may be the top connector and left channel. I don't use or have any iPhone plugs to look at.

Touche, thanks a lot.
