iPod Shuffle good for podcasts?

I had a 3G iPod once, but now I don't have an iPod or any portable music player. I'm considering getting the iPod Shuffle. I want a USB flash drive and it would be nice to be able to listen to some music and podcasts on the go.

Are the controls ok for listening to podcasts? Or is skipping through a 30+ minute podcast episode a pain? Is the shuffle "smart" about podcasts like the new iTunes, that will resume from when you left off, or will you blindly have to skip through an episode to find the point where you left off?

I've not used my Shuffle for listening to podcasts much. For music it's easy to fast-foward and skip through tracks, should be similar experience for podcasts. I pause and resume all the time throughout the day at work - just picks up from where I left off. Seems to do this when I switch it off as well - press Play 3-times to go back to the beginning again.

I use mine as a USB thumbdrive as well, so all in all the Shuffle's a better option for my needs than a larger iPod.

I use my shuffle to listen to podcasts in the car. Actually, now thats about all I use my shuffle for (my drive to work is just enough to listen to The Nightsound Show, TWIT, and Diggnation every week.) The shuffle is smart enough to resume where you left off on the podcast. I don't fast forward much, but when I do its pretty pain free (especially since I don't have to look at the controls while driving.) Works like a charm!

I use my SHuffle almost exclusively for podcasts. Drag and drop 'em onto the Shuffle, and you're ready to go. Also use it as a thumb drive for work files, and keep about 20 songs on it in the event I get so bored I have to rock out.
