iPod Shuffle run times?

I have a new shuffle (got it in Feb) and it only lasts about 8-10 hours before it completely dies. I don't think this is normal but is it bad enough that Apple would do anything about it?

BTW: If they do take it back will they just replace the battery or will they send a new one? Mine is engraved and I don't want to lose that.

Battery Life

The normal play back time of a shuffle is 12 hours based on 4 minute song play back... Mine usually lasts about 2 days w/o recharging - 8 hours per day...It just depends on usage.
