Shuffle Won't Appear (iPod shuffle)

My iPod shuffle wont appear in iTunes or on the desktop wehn I plug it in. It charges (blinking orange light), but it wont show up.

It's ot a problem with my new Intel machine because it was happening on the PPC iMac a few days back, and my iPod 3G shows up fine.

Any ideas to get it to show up?
 
I experienced it myself a month or so back, and took it in (it was still under warranty) and they replaced it. "i'd never buy an iPod" says the desk clerk, "we've had so many returns of these for this". Stauch (to the point of idiotic) macophite I, I says "I'd never buy anything else" [take that!].
Looking around here subsequently, this is described as the Blinking Orange Light of Death.
May this not be so in your case.
(but it probably is - if it's still in warranty, take it in)

I won it as one of the prizes for winning the New Zealand Web Challenge last year...So I have no idea where I can take it.
 
My MacBook suddenly won't detect my iPod Shuffle (512 MB). It is blinking, but neither wil iTunes, Finder, Disk Utility whatsoever detect it! What is wrong? This his is around 14 months old, so out of warranty.:(

What should I do?

Break it in half, throw it in the garbage and get another like I did.

Well, since I kinda had a deal arranged for selling it for $35, I'd like it to work, so any other thoughts?
 
Make art with it? Or offer it for the shipping cost on a techie board, someone who does micro-soldering might want the flash RAM.
 
1. Look on-line or in the phone book for a place to take it in for a new one.
2. Try a different USB port. Sometimes it just isn't making good contact.
 
Allright. There's no way I'm gonna break, sell it for the shipping cost, or make art out of it. I just want to sell it for $35. I tried both my MacBook's USB ports. They work with printers, mice whatever, just not the Shuffle. It doesnøt work either with my parents wincans. What should I do?

Restart your computer, plug it in. Do not have itunes running

ahhhh windows is what u need plug in it to a win box important: make sure shuffle is turned on !!! and reformat fat 32 or run restorer from apple and u should be good 2 go if not shuffles do suffer failures so its the bin sorry !!
