Shuffling songs on iPad 3?

Dumb question but how do you shuffle songs in a playlist or all songs on an iPad...I can't find it for the life of me. Thanks.

You have to do it indirectly.

Go into the music app, select any song from the song list (or playlist).
When the song starts playing, select the shuffle icon (near the top, by the scrub bar) then select the next song.

I'm used to the shuffle function being at the top of every playlist, but it doesn't show like that on the iPad. You get the shuffle icon when you play a track, to the right of the progress bar.
