Hi,

What do you do?

I've heard from someone in my school that it's better to just close the lid when you're going to bed? So that you shut down the system as less as possible.

Is there any theory in this?

i close the lid

i don't think it matters, i think he is referring to a forced shut down which had a small chance of messing your hard drive up but that doesn't matter too much these days

on sleep it uses 1% battery per day, so there is no concern there

your friend might be referring to the fact that when you shutdown the os you will loose all the cached data in ram, however because the ssd is so fast it really does not matter
