Is it possible to force a system shutdown when the lid to my mac book airs are closed?

I have around 300 of them in a school enviroment and when the wake up from sleep they don't want to automatically rejoin my wireless. This is causing me a huge headache.

Any ideas?

I don't believe you can't do a force shutdown as OSX will want to prompt the user to save any existing work that might be active.

Actually, I think you *can* (with terminal commands) but I'm not going to say how because I think that's a terrible penalty for accidentally closing the lid.

OP, I'd suggest figuring out why the Macs are not re-joining the wifi network, that's the more elegant solution.
