I'm still new to Macs, how can I just have it shutdown immediately instead of waiting 60 seconds or clicking shutdown again?

you cant it is so you do not lose your work just like the slide to unlock stops you from butt dialing

If your on a Macbook (Pro) you can just hit the power button then click shut down. There's a key stroke to get to the same window on non-Macbook (Pro) computers I don't remember it right now.

I don't think it's viable anymore. My restart and/or shutdown gets stopped if Safari has multiple tabs open and I don't acknowledge it's okay to shut down. I assume it would be the same if I had documents open, etc.

To bypass the 60 second countdown, hold down Option when selecting Shut Down from the Apple menu.
