There is not a shutdown items folder anymore. How did you find it useful? It's something I'm not too familiar with.

I never found it useful in OS 9, but I recently had a solution that included it. I was sick of forgetting to lower the volume on my Mac before shutdown, resulting in a very loud system bong at the next startup. So I wrote a simple applescript app to lower the volume and wanted to put it in the shutdown items folder, only to find it missing.

(I was also going to write a similar app to set the volume on login as well)
