my macbook doesn't seem to want to shut down unless I switch to the login screen. and I can't seem to log out either, or at least it takes forever.
 
Have you tried repairing permissions and then repairing the disk? Try that. From disk utility app which is in the utilities folder.:)
 
no i haven't... but I just tried logging off and it worked. maybe it has to do with putting my macbook to sleep too much? I just close it when i'm done using it, is that bad?
