I shut down my new 2017 MacBook Pro every evening and close the cover. When I open the cover in the morning, the computer is already awake and I the sign-in screens up. Is this normal, or do I have a problem?

Normal. The Mac turns on when the lid is opened, even if it was shut down before the lid was closed. This started with the 2016 model.

[doublepost=1522451485][/doublepost]Thank you. Does it also shut down when the lid is closed?

No, it does not shut down when you close the lid.

Since updating to 10.13.4 yesterday I noticed a changed behaviour. It seemed to me that the computer sometimes wakes a little harder (it takes longer) when opening the lid. On one occasion it even seemed to be shut down without me doing it. Anyone else noticed this? I'll be watching it to see how it acts.

Yes, I noticed this after updating also. I need to click repeatedly before I can enter my password.
