I use "Ctrl+Shift+Eject" to shut off my iMac screen (not shutdown) usually before I go to sleep, but recently, I've had to hit it 5 or 6 times before it actually turns off the screen. It also happens when putting the computer to sleep pressing "Option+Command+Eject".

Has anyone else experienced this?

Have you tried using a Hot Corner set to 'Put the Dispay to Sleep'? I am unfamiliar with the iMac but that could possibly be the route to take.

Hey, I didn't know about that combo. That's handy!

You may have to hold the eject button down for a second or so. I know that's needed when ejecting, preventing accidental triggering by klutzes like me while trying to hit the backspace key.
