Sick of my slow 3G, any way of rolling back to 3.0?

My 3G with ios 4 installed is awful and I miss the days when I used to be able to just click stuff and not have to wait ages before it actually loaded! My contracts not up until march, so I'm stuck with it for now, but is there anyway of rolling back to an ios that worked flawlessly on the 3G? 3.0 for example? I've never jailbroken my iphone so don't know much about this kinda stuff.

Yes, you can download the 3.1.3 ipsw for the 3G and shift or option restore to that thru itunes.
If it gives you an error at the end kick the device out of recovery with tinyumbrella and you're good.

Nope, you cannot permanently brick an iphone unless it has some sort of hardware problem.
You can always restore it.
