Side button is causing song change in Apple Music

I’ll have my iPhone out with Apple Music open, I’ll select a song and it will start playing. I’ll then press the side button to turn the screen off and put it in pocket and it immediately changes the song to something random about 25% of the time. I can’t find this issue posted elsewhere but apologies if I missed it.

I’m on an iPhone 12 Pro but had the same experience on an iPhone X.
