At work I use a MacBook Air 13" early 2014, Core i7 1.7 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD.
I am looking for a desktop stand that could hold my MacBook Air 13" sideways on my desk, allowing the MacBook Air's display to act as a secondary display (in vertical rotation mode). Ideally I'd have the MacBook Air on the right side of my external display, hiding the keyboard/computer part of the MacBook behind the monitor, with only the display visible on the side of the external monitor.
I have it hooked up to a Dell 27" display, with a resolution of 2560 x 1440. Since the MacBook's resolution is 1440 x 900, the pixel height after being rotated 90º matches that of the Dell monitor.
I'm mainly a single monitor user and I'm very efficient with a large single display. Having a second monitor gives me neck problems due to the ergonomics of looking left or right while working. So this is more of a casual project than a super productivity increase tool. Hopefully there is a DIY project online somewhere, but my attempt at Googling has come up dry.
