This is just a head's up to let everyone know that is is now possible to boot from ( in my case )
a Samsung 960 EVO 256 Gb M.2 blade to Sierra 10.12.6 with no ( so far ) issues.

There are two parts to the procedure.
Part 1.
Get Sierra 10.12.6 to SEE the blade and allow it to be formatted.
Part 2.
Create a fusion drive ( in my case ) USB 3.0 stick with the 960 EVO.
The procedure was not especially difficult but immensely satisfying
