Does the preorder need to be signed for? Seems like being a Friday lots of people will be at work, would suck to preorder and have to wait until Monday.

Yes, Apple requires signature for iPhone shipments. If you order through Apple, you will be given the option to pre-sign for the delivery, not sure if you get that option through Verizon, At&t, etc.

Ok cool so I can presign, that will work. I work at a firehouse, so we are not always there.

Normally they do but with my new iPad preorder the UPS man left 2 iPads at my door step with just a knock.

I was thinking maybe if I left a note saying to leave it, that would work

Was this after you pre-signed it. If not, you should have called Apple and said you only received one. Fedex would be responsible and hopefully that would run down the chain to that delivery guy, what a jacka-ss.

It will be an option on your order status page if you order through apple.com. It opens a page for you to print and shows you where to sign for authorization.

I've seen them do it a lot. Can't count how many times they left a package worth hundreds the req'd signature laying on my doorstep. The fun ones are when they throw it up to the second floor balcony.
