When my watch ships UPS do I personally have to be there to sign or can someone else sign for it?

Thanks, I will most probably be at work but someone is always at my house. I'm hoping UPS delivers it at 7pm like they always do with anything else I order.

Anyone inside your house can sign for it. Alternatively, you can print out the pre-signature slip to have them leave the package at your neighbors instead.

Actually, let me tell you what happened to me.

I pre-signed just in case I wouldn't be home on time; but just as soon as i turned onto my street I saw the UPS truck in front of my house so I got there just in time to greet the driver and sign for the package. The driver said "good thing you got home on time because even with the pre-signature letter they don't let us leave apple products at the door"

I dunno what that driver was talking about as I have used the pre-sign letter with Apple a bunch of times with no issue. If the UPS drivers weren't allowed to leave Apple products at the door then why does Apple offer the pre-sign letter?

That's not true. I left the pre-signed slip at the door even when I was home (because I don't always hear the doorbell and have been burned by this in the past). They did leave my Watch behind at the door and took the pre-signed slip. My tracking even says "Location: front door".

As long as someone at my house other then me can sign im good. I was hoping that I didn't have to sign personally.

Maybe it's their boss's decision so it's made on a local level. He flat out said he had no plan to leave it if I wasn't there.

Did he make you show any ID since you didn't come from within the house?

Actually no he didn't. Wow. I didn't even think about that. But yeah as the last person said, he's seen me before and he drives by my house almost every day and knows my car that's typically in the driveway.
I figured it was something like that. We get various drivers in my neighborhood, so if I hear them pull up I always make sure they see me come out of the house so they're not suspicious. It startles them sometimes, because my vehicle is always in the garage, and it really looks like I'm never home. :)

It is strictly up to the driver to decide if it's safe enough to leave, even with a pre signed authorization.

I didn't print out or sign anything and our UPS guy left it at our door. When we saw him next we asked about it and he said it was digitally pre-signed in the system... I didn't digitally sign anything, so not sure how that happened. Either way, I got my :apple:Watch and my wife got hers with no problems.

This is the case in my neighborhood also (and it's also not sketchy). The driver told me (for my 5s) that they're not allowed to leave it even with the letter - it has to go to a human who can sign for it.
