Hi,

I was trying to run an external monitor on my mbpr retina as an extended screen through the HDMI port and started experiencing major graphics lag. Has anyone else experienced any problems like this? The monitor that i am trying to use is the Asus PA256Q. I mainly wanted to use it for the increased real estate so that i can have powerpoints open for school while i take notes or work on homework. Anything i am doing wrong?

When i ran the mbpr in clamshell mode i noticed the lag a lot less. However, i dont really want to run the mbpr in clamshell mode because im afraid always charging it will affect my battery life which would be a pain since i was told that the batteries for the mbpr are glued in. Also, i dont want to lose the function of being able to look at my beautiful screen.

Any tricks or tips? Or should i just return the monitor and be happy with the amount of real estate that i already have on the mbpr?
