Carrier Signing up for new Verizon service when buying phone through Apple?

I would like to sign up for new Verizon service, but purchase the phone directly from Apple. I tried to sign up with Verizon directly on the verizon.com site, but it won't let me sign up without purchasing a phone or having a compatible phone already (which I don't have).

I can't seem to find an option to do it on Apple's site even though I know it was possible in the past. If I go into an Apple Store, will they be able to do this for me, and help me port my number over to Verizon from T-Mobile?

I wanted to do the same during the preorder, but since they won't let you do it I just ordered through Verizon. I was porting 4 numbers from T-Mobile.
