My Best Buy is selling the new Apple Keyboards and Mice just recently, but they do not sell the MacBooks or other Mac Products. Is this a sign that maybe my Best Buy is starting to get a Apple Store inside any time soon.

PS: i didn't know where to post this on MacRumors, so hopefully this sis the right area.

Just ask. A Best Buy in my area told me that they were going to sell Macs a few days before they did. The guy even showed me a MacBook that they were trying (and failing miserably) to set up. Their kiosk went up a few days later.

It was the same at my Best Buy store (where I work). We got all the accessories for Mac about 8 months ago...but no hardware. Then, I get to work about 4 days ago after being off for a few days and BAM, we have an Apple Store suddenly. I was ecstatic.

I walked into my Be$t Buy one day and a magical black booth was set up, just welcoming streams of customers to its svelte, chic lineup of products.

the store had started carrying fewer pc's they never sold and moved a lot of computer stuff to make room for the display...they had a pyramid of iMacs and a big empty space on the floor too :)

In Canada, some best buys and future shops have mac booths with laptops and imac for sell. they are actually pretty nice, with big black tables and a nice apple theme in a sea of crappy best buy layout. They even have mac 'specialist' which just seem to be regular employees who happen to own macs.

This isn't at every location, it seems like they only have the mac areas in a few of them. In fact the locations without the mac setups don't sell anything mac related.

Several of our stores in New Orleans got mini Apple stores back around January sometime. It's pretty nice, but now that we have an actual Apple retail store within driving distance (about 40-50 minutes), it's worth going up there now and then to check out stuff, as well as be able to bring in my Mac if it ever has any trouble.

I have three BestBuy stores in my area that have Apple stores in them. The rest if the stores don't but they still have always sold the keyboards and Mighty Mouse.

Our 3 here in my corner of Md all have mini Apples inthem too. Problem is not a lot of software, which means I have to travel either to Microcenter or to the actual apple store, which isn't bad its only 20 mins from me its just BB is 5 mins away. Oh and I'm not using Windows on my MBP at all

I got futureshop (a electronics giant owned by BB, but only in Canada) to do a price match for the education discount. Also i have heard a lot of people doing this a best buy too.

It's against standard operating procedure. If education discounts were being honored, the employees were violating such terms and the customers were lucky.

EDIT: although it could've been different back when.

The Apple Stores in Best Buys literally appear overnight. They begin setting them up when the store closes, and several hours later, they are done. We should be getting one soon. :)

The salesman told me that it was the same as a price match, and even then they honored the Apple educational discount because the store had an apple boutique. BTW, i bought my laptop in Jan 08 so it was pretty resultantly. I also have a few friends that work at best buy and they said that the apple student discount was good at their store. I guess the policy could be different in the US though.

Does anyone know if Best Buy does the education discount?

There is no discount that I know of (certainly not one like Apple's)

My BestBuy has an Apple area place, and they said that they are going to try to put them in most of their stores, since apparently they make good money for BestBuy.

We've got 2 BBs in the area. One has the full fledged Apple kiosk. The other does not. Both, however, sell Macs and Apple products. Although, the one without the kiosk had one MacBook.

But that's still progress.

The Apple section in our BB opens on the 18th of April. They cleared out an area nearer the front of the store than the PC section. They had a MBA on display, but it was practically hidden compared to the other laptops, and I was very surprised when I stumbled upon it. The second I began typing on it, a sales person materialized, asking if she could assist me. They already had Apple keyboards, Mighty Mice, and a few OS X software programs out, but no other Mac's aside from the MBA.

I'm glad BB is offering this, as there is no Apple store in my state, and the 2 mom and pop shops that sell Apple products are usually low on stock.
