Hey,

So I bought a 13" rMBP from John Lewis (UK retailer) a few weeks ago, it has a screen defect. I asked to swap it, they said no problem - however they have no stock.

They told me they'd let me know when, but I asked the guy and he said that Apple have 'missed' all their shipments in October and they are expecting the next shipment at the end of October.

Could this by Apple not sending out new stock until the hardware refresh?

Who knows! But, I might just get a refund and wait until the end of the month!

Thanks for your informative response.

I'm curious, though, is it now likely they won't get any of the current(previous) gen MacBook Pro's and instead, will simply only have stock when the Haswell's make an appearance?

Considering they have no additional loss from the process, I don't see anything wrong with just returning the one you have (ideally after a Time Machine backup) and spending the money on the inevitable new model.
