When I plug my phone in to charge for the night I get the "bong" that the phone has been connected to a charger. I have a bedtime set which I thought might mute that notification. Is there a way to mute it at night (when my wife is sleeping) but not all the time?

I assume you mean you use Focus Mode "Sleep"? You will need to put the phone on silent as well. If you don't want to do this manually every night, you should have a look at the Apple app called Shortcuts to automatically set the phone to silent every night. But this only works if you have an iPhone 15 Pro or newer as it requires the Action Button (I tested it on my 13 and it doesn't work apparently).

you can do shortcuts on any iphone. Just start it on the home screen.
I programmed one on my 13 mini which goes in silent mode, reduce white point and goes in airplane mode

I know I can use the app, just when I search for Silent it says this is not compatible with this iPhone. However, now I see you can also select Volume, then choose notification sounds, set it to 0%. Confusing, but it works.

Unless you have an iPad or an iPhone with an action button, you are absolutely right. You cannot add silent mode to a shortcut on an iPhone 14 or earlier. However, I do have a toggle that activates sleep tracking early if I feel super tired for the day , which turns on silent mode on both my iPhone and Apple Watch.
