I have eagerly awaited iOS 16 and the ability to silence apps in focus mode. One rather chatty app is WhatsApp, something I would have rather not used but due to the prevalence of its use by immediate and extended family, I'm either on it or out of the loop.

I looked at the how-to article posted here on MacRumors how to enable this but am unable to do it in Driving Focus.

Was this functionality not enabled in Driving Focus but in other, user-created Focuses instead?

Seems like poor implementation if it was left out of Driving Focus, where you really want to have total control over what does or doesn't alert you.

Not a WhatsApp or Driving Focus user, but get the feeling that the Driving Focus is going back to a more all or nothing direction. They got rid of the "Allow Time Sensitive" notification option.

It looks like "only these people can call me and no-one/nothing else can ping me" type setup in 16.

Definitely would appear that way.

I wish Apple was more granular under their pre-configured Focuses to permit app silencing, especially under Driving. I had to create my own Driving Focus and incorporate an automation to make it work. Under manually created Focuses, you then have the option to silence apps.

It's a hack, but at least I will get some respite from the constant alerts on WhatsApp.
