Silencing Message Notifications for 1 Thread

Is there a way to silence notifications for certain threads? I am in a group chat and I really don't want the notifications going to my wrist - I have it on "hide alerts" for that thread on my phone, but it does not seem to affect the watch. I only want to mute the texts from this conversation... not all conversations - just this one on the watch.

Its so annoying I feel like I am wearing a shock collar.

I see on reddit that if you unhide the alerts in that conversation, then delete the conversation, and then re-hide when a new one comes in, that should work.....if you're willing to delete the conversation.

Just tried this.. will confirm when I receive a group text. Of course after I post this thread the group text goes dark.. and i dont want to be the guy to fire that thing back up again.. ugh. family group texts....
