Hello,
after being read-only for a few years I decided to register at your forums today and ask a question which is a burning issue to me:
I am seeking an external storage solution for time machine backups of my iMac (750GB), a MacBook (120GB) as well as some extra space - altogether I tought about at least 1.5TB.
Surfing around the web I found that the best solution seems to be a 2HD SATA enclosure with a Firewire 800 connection. So far so good.
My biggest concern is the noise: I already tried the Iomega Ultramax, which is still standing next to my iMac - but the noise it makes when the drives are accessed is tedious
(compared to the iMac)
I only switch it on, when time machine gripes at again...
Now I seek an alternative which is nearly as silent as the iMac itself.
Hopefully someone can give me a recommendation for that matter:
In order of importance to me:
- Silent operation
- Firewire 800 connectivity
- shouldnt be too ugly
Thanks in advance
