Hello,

I want to upgrade my macbook hard drive to a bigger one. I have a Samsung HM320JI with 320 GB but it's too noisy. The original hitachi is much more silent.

Can you recommend a silent hard drive to upgrade a late 2008 macbook?

Thanks.

Go with Hitachi 500gb

I actually tried all 500GB HD's made from Seagate (tried both the 5400 & 7200 drive), Western Digital Scorpio Blue, and Hitachi. All produced some noise, but the Hitachi was by far the most quiet for idle and load. I am very picky about sound and sit in my bedroom at night and want the least noise I can get. If you want quiet than you want this HD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145257
